Meet the Artist: Annabel Hocking

Annabel Hocking is a Surrey-based artist, illustrator and surface pattern designer whose work is inspired by gardens, wild places, travel and the beauty found in everyday moments.

Her colourful and expressive paintings capture the feeling of a place, from sun-dappled tables and winding garden paths to coastal swims and treasured memories gathered along the way. With a background in architecture and more than five years of experience teaching art workshops, Annabel is passionate about helping people discover the joy and confidence that creativity can bring.

Through both her artwork and teaching, she encourages participants to slow down, observe the world around them and find inspiration in nature, colour and the simple pleasures of daily life.

During this hands-on painting workshop, you’ll learn how to create an expressive artwork inspired by a beautifully styled Mediterranean-inspired table setting.

Throughout the session, Annabel will guide you through:

• Exploring colour palettes inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, gardens and coastal living
• Learning simple techniques for composing and simplifying a still-life scene
• Painting from a carefully curated al fresco tablescape featuring seasonal flowers, fruit, ceramics and linens
• Developing confidence with colour, mark-making and composition
